Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Rusty grew up in north Houston attending Aldine schools. He began competing on the professional rodeo circuit at the age of 15.  After graduating from Nimitz High School in 1983, Rusty competed at the local and national level in the sport of rodeo.  In 1988, he finished in the top 5 at the Texas Professional Rodeo Association finales in Fort Worth  and went on to represent his state at the world finals in El-Paso Texas.

He met his beautiful wife, Stacey in February 1988 and thanks to the faithful prayers of his mother, they were both saved seven months later. Rusty married Stacey in 1989 and they have two wonderful kids, Joshua 21, and Jessica 16.
Rusty obeyed the call on his life and attended Kenneth Hagin’s Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  After graduating in 1994, he returned to Houston and for ten years ran the security agency that his family owned and operated.

Rusty served at The Worship Center as an usher and taught adult Sunday school for seven years. He joined the church staff in January 2004, and in June 2004, TWC congregation voted Rusty in as Sr. Pastor.
